Eddie Tookes, Jr, of 555 Tookes Road, Oglethorpe, GA, died Monday, September 18, 2006. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2006 at Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church in Oglethorpe with burial in the church cemetery. He was born March 17, 1933 in Macon county, GA, son of the late Ed Tookes Sr and Florinda Nelson Tookes. He was a member of Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. In March 1955, he and Beulah McDonald were married. After Beulah died, he married the former Mary Wiggins thomas on November 25, 2003. He was preceded in death by a brother, Goodwin Tookes and a sister, Catherine Tookes Jones. Survivors include his wife, children: Peggy Redding (Anthony West), Laverne Tookes (Gary Barnes), Timothy (Latoria) Tookes, Reverend Rodney (Debra) tookes of Atlanta; 7 grandchildren, keythen Dodson, keldrick Dodson, Edward Tookes, jamaya Tookes, Lee Thomas Tookes, rodney Tookes Jr, Taylor Tookes; step daughter, Marian Thomas; 2 step grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren. He was born December 18, 1911 in Macon County, GA, son of General and Henrietta Harris Tookes. He was a member of Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church. He was a retired carpenter and farmer. George W Tookes, Jr, his son, preceded him in death. Toombs of Tampa, FL; three daughters, Cornelia sanders of Columbus, Lillie Minor of Tampa, and Audrey Jones of COlumbus; twenty four grandchildren; forty eight great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren; a brother in law, Jimmy Toombs of Tampa, a niece, mary Cherry of Columbus. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor J. H. Flakes, Jr., officiating. Burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery.

A brother, Robert Pollard preceded him in death.
