Funeral services for Mrs Elma Brown Rutherford of 475 Middle River Road, who died Sunday, May 13, 2007, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, May 18, for Union Tabernacle Baptist Church. Reverend Homer Rutherford Jr will officiate. Burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery in Lumpkin, GA. She was born February 6, 1922 in Lumpkin, Stewart County, GA, daughter of Bud Brown and Eldora (Crump) Brown. She was a dietician for the Americus City Public Schools and worked for the Dixie Bakery with her daughter and son in law. She married Homer William Rutherford and they had 10 children. Survivors include 7 sons, Reverend Homer (Marilyn) Rutherford, McArthur (Rose) Rutherford, Alphonso (Annie Irene) Rutherford, Irwin (Beatrice) Rutherford, Roy Rutherford Jr, Theodore (Kimberly) Rutherford, and Herman Louis (Brenda) Rutherford; 3 daughters, Mrs Annie Barnum, Mrs Doris McKnight and Mrs Linda (Mtahis) Wright; a sister, Mrs Louise Protho; brother in law, James Rutherford; sister in law, Mrs Mami Rutherford; 35 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren.

He was a retired truck driver and owned a local restaurant for many years. He was born July 22, 1926 in FOrt Mitchell, AL, son of George "Buck" Rutledge and Aria Holland Rutledge. He was the widower of Eva Mae Evans Rutledge. Funeral services will be held at 1:0 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Phenix City. Reverend J C Fryer will officiate. He was a member of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was a retired machinist at Golden Foundry in Columbus and an independent trucking company owner. He was preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Barbara Ann Robinson. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Savannah State University and her Master's from Columbus State University. She was an educator with the Muscogee County School District, having served at Dawson Elementary School, retiring with 30 years service from St Mary Magnet School. She was a member of First African Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Clifford O Rutledge; a granddaughter, Clemitrius Hartley of Columbus; 2 brothers, Charlie (Orien) Nix of Philadelphia, PA and Frank (Debra) Nix of Washington, DC; a brother in law, Rudolph (Betty) Rutledge of Chicago, IL. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m, Thursday, April 5, 2007 at Nichols Chapel A.M.E. Church with Reverend Nathaniel Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.
