Eddie James Jones Sr, 62, of 3714 Hawaii way, Columbus, GA, died Monday, January 29, 2007 at the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA. He was born March 12, 1944 in Columbus, GA, son of Jim and Clara M Jackson Jones. He was a 1965 graduate of Spencer High School and a member of Holsey Chapel C.M.E. Church. He was custodian of the church since 1975, retiring in 2006 with 31 years service. He was a Corrections Officer with the Muscogee COunty Sheriff's Department. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Barbara Rucker Jones of Columbus; 4 children, Eddie James (Carlia) Jones Jr of Marietta, GA; Harriett Robinson of Atlanta, GA, Keyon Story of Valdosta, GA and Danielle (Robert) Edwards of Fort Bragg, NC; 8 grandchildren, 3 brothers, Robert Jones, Herman Williams and Joseph (Virginia) Williams of Columbus, GA; and an aunt, Lillie Young of Columbus. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, October 2, 2007 at Holsey Chapel C.M.E. Church with reverend Allen Paige III officiating. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery.
