A 57 year old Americus Negro, Willie Clemons, died at Sumter Regional Hospital Sunday evening after he was stabbed at his residence at 603 Academy Street about 6:12 p.m., authorities reported. Another middle-aged Negro man, Willie Terry, also of Americus was arrested last night and charged with murder in connection with the incident, Americus Police Department officials said. Police were notified of the stabbing after th Sumter Regional Hospital ambulance service received a call to the residence. Police officers, Sgt James Tondee, Moses Bridges and Nelson Brown went to the scene and found that Clemons had been stabbed in the heart with a butcher knife. The victim was carried to Sumter Regional Hospital, but died there a short time later about 6:45 p.m. Terry is being held in Sumter County jail, police said.
