He was the widower of Georgiana Thornton and Bessie Winters. He was employed and retired from U S Silica in Hurtsboro. Survivors include a son, Henry (Leoroshia) Key of Fort Myers, FL; a stepson, Gregory (Masayo) Winters of Bronx, NY, a sister, Gladys Borom Williams of Hurtsboro; 2 nieces, Bettye Banks Allen of Hurtsboro, Debra Ann Berry of Phenix City; 2 nephews, William Ricky Banks of Columbus, and Tony (Kimberly) Banks of Midland, GA.

She was born February 8, 1918 in Russell County, AL, daughter of Lewis and Estella Comer Patterson. She was a member of St John A.M.E. Church in Hurtsboro. Survivors include 3 sons, Robert (Lena) Bowen of Hurtsboro, Fred (Elnora) Bowen and Roosevelt Bowen, both of Milwaukee, WI; a brother, Frank (Fannie) Relf of Columbus, GA; 26 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 40 great, great grandchildren.

Her husband, George Brown preceded her in death. She was a member of Benevolent Grove Baptist Church. He was born May 6, 1911 in Russell County, son of Joe and Gertha Brown and retired as a chemical worker for US Steel in Columbus, moving to East Chicago about 15 years ago. He was a member of Holiness Church of Beallwood. Surviving are 4 sons, Reverend Gennie Dix of Gary, IN, Richard Brown, Jr., and Eddie Young of East Chicago, Cleodis Brown of Pittsview; 5 daughters, Catherine Brown of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Maeolia Butler of East Orange, NJ, Clara Williams, Elizabeth Comer and Mary Rodgers, all of East Chicago; a brother, Kelly Brown of Eclectic; a half-sister, Gennie Robinson of Phenix City; twenty-six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Milton Fortson died Monday, April 24, 2006 at the VA Hospital in Montgomery, AL. He was born January 6, 1922 in Bullock County, AL, son of William Henry Fortson Sr and Sendilla Fortson. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and a US Army veteran, serving from November 1942 to February 1946. He was married to Jennie Lou Crawford. He later married Willie Bell Walker. He and Willie Bell had two children, Priscilla Fortson and Millie Fortson. Both wives preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughters, Priscilla (Charles) Perkins of O'Fallon, IL, Millie Fortson of New Brunswick, NJ, and Bettye Allen of Hurtsboro, AL; 3 sons, Willie (Gracelia) Anthony of East Palatka, FL, Bobby (Jennifer Lynn) Walker of Detroit, MI and Dextra Vann of Tuskegee, AL; 13 grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, 7 great, great grandchildren.
