She was born September 12, 1944, daughter of Ms Annie Rose Champion Gibson. Her brother, Reverend Dock and Willie Mae Champion adopted her and her sister and raised them as their own. She was a graduate of Sumter County High School and lived in Miami over twenty years, returning to Sumter County in 1986 and was a member of Zion Hope. Surviving is her adopted father and stepmother, Reverend Dock and Edna Fudge Champion; four sisters, Mrs Abidel (Reverend Jacob) Battle, Mrs Freddie Monroe, Mrs Bertha (Ivey) Williams and Ms Elizabeth Gibson; a brother, Thomas (Jeane) Gibson; stepsiblings, Fletcher Dennis (Stella Lee Ingram) Baker, Mrs Donna (Willie "Bill") Tennyson and Ms Deidra LaSalle Baker (James Willis) Respess; sisters in law, Mrs Mildred Gibson and Ms Rose Gibson; aunts, Mrs Ruby Lee Champion Reed and Mrs Mabel Champion; an uncle, Reverend Lewis (Ethel Mae) Champion; a niece and nephew, Mrs. Sharon (Ansley) Jackson and Kyle L Champion.
