African American Cemeteries and Obituaries in the Columbus Muscogee County Georgia and Phenix City Russell Lee County Area
Updated almost daily! Here, you will find thousands of African Americans who have lived and died in and around the Columbus, GA area. You may search by (1) name, (2) Cemetery, (3) Orbituary or by (4) Funeral Home. If you would like to contribute information on your family members, please e-mail me the information and I will post it here to honor them. On some individuals, I have a database of descendents. If interested, e-mail me and if I have the information you are seeking, I will e-mail it back to you. It is a pleasure to share this information and I hope it will be a blessing to you. My efforts have proven to be exceedingly satisfying and personally rewarding, knowing I'm able to help families who want to know more of their family history. Some have had me print books for their family reunions and consider them a family treasure. It has been both a privilege and honor to have some of these family histories placed on shelves of genealogy departments of the Washington Library in Macon, Georgia, Columbus State University, Chattahoochee Valley Community College, Columbus Library, Mildred Terry Library, and the genealogy department of the library in Americus, Georgia.
Presently, I have documented over 90,000 African-American family histories through cemetery records and obituaries. Most are records of persons who lived in Chattahoochee, Harris, Marion, Muscogee, Schley, and Sumter counties in Georgia and Russell County, Alabama. The African-American Cemeteries database will be updated regularly to help you discover the link between your past and future, and to help preserve our African-American history. Death notices: 22,046; Obituaries: 11,713
I welcome your e-mail. Please consider adding your family to this collection. If you have suggestions or areas of correction you wish to make, please do so. Contact me by clicking on "Contact Us" above. Thanks!
